The UFVS-100 contains one strainer tube in series with one filter tube connected to the pump tube.  A lifting lug centered between the filter tube and the pump tube is provided for lifting the UFVS-100.    The housing is constructed of 304 stainless steel.

Operation of the UFVS-100:  Unfiltered water from the cavity pool enters from an attached suction hose and into the strainer housing.  After passing through the strainer, water then enters the filter tube.  After passing through an installed filter cartridge, filtered water from the filter housing passes through a common bottom tunnel connected to the pump housing. The submersible pump draws water from the pump housing and discharges filtered water back to the cavity pool. Filters placed into the filter housings are sealed by an O-ring mounted in the filter tube sheet. Negative pressure developed in the filter cartridges provide a positive seal between the filter cartridge and the mounted o-ring.  The pump housing has a 1/2”drain hole drilled through the bottom support plate to allow for filling or draining water from the housing.

Basic Operation

Tri Nuclear Corp.

During refueling outages and periods of underwater work activity at nuclear power stations, it is necessary to filter the water to maintain water clarity.  Also, it is good practice to vacuum up loose crud pockets or sludge which has accumulated around underwater equipment or in the general bottom areas of pools.

Tri Nuclear Corp. has designed the UFVS-100, which modified the standard UFV-100, with an integral strainer basket assembly.  The strainer basket prevents the large hot particles from embedding themselves in the filter cartridges, thus minimizing the creation of greater than class “C” filter cartridges.
