SFP-100 Information
Nuclear Applications:
· Reactor Cavity surface skimming
· Spent Fuel Pool surface skimming
Advantages over SK-175, Pool Skimmer
· No trailing hose
· Filter cartridge easily replaced at top of floating equipment
· Completely self-contained
SFP-100 Specifications:
Diameter: 36"
Height: 84"
Weight: 280 lbs
Design flow rate: 50 to 150 GPM
Material: Stainless steel
Skim perimeter: 9-1/2 feet (This permits a thin overflow depth, which is necessary to effectively use water tension to skim pool surface and not dilute the overflow stream with sub-surface water.)

Major Components of the SFP-100:
Top float chamber & overflow trough: maintains the correct floating level of the skimmer. When putting the unit into operation, ballast water is added through the top plug to initially adjust and maintain the correct floating level of the skimmer. The overflow trough directs water to the inlet of the filter housing.
Filter housing: houses a variety of Tri Nuclear Corp. filters - see our brochure BR110 for more details on these filters.
Pump & diffuser: provides a suction on the filter housing to draw down surface water. The diffuser prevents surface rippling or agitation which could distort viewing through the water surface.
Tri Nuclear Corp.
During refueling outages and periods of underwater work activity at nuclear power stations, surface water skimming of cavity pools and fuel storage pools is necessary in order to:
· remove floating dirt and debris from pool surfaces to maintain visual water clarity
· remove floating crud bursts to avoid “flea” type personnel contamination and high radiation levels over pools
· prevent crud plate out on side walls of cavities during pump down, which can result in airborne contamination problems.
The Tri Nuclear Corp. Skimmer/Filter/Pump unit is designed as a complete self-contained floating unit, with a top buoyancy float and overflow skimming section, a filter housing section and a pump and diffuser discharge section.
