This letter is to inform you of a change in design and part number for the Tri Nuclear Underwater Filter Storage Rack.  The operability and function of the new underwater filter storage rack has not changed in any manner.

 

 

BACKGROUND

Tri Nuclear has always provided an underwater filter storage rack to store new and depleted filter cartridges on the cavity or spent fuel pool floor.  The design has improved over the years, from initially holding four filters to holding five.  Tri Nuclear is please to introduce a floor storage rack that will contain six filters.

 

Feedback from several plants contributed to this improvement.  When using a UFV-260 & UF-600 simultaneously, there was the need to hold 6 depleted filters.  Tri Nuclear has met this need with the Underwater Filter Storage Rack Model UT-3/6. 

 

IMPROVEMENTS

The Underwater Filter Storage Rack Model UT-3/6 has three major improvements over the standard UT-3.  The first is the ability to hold six new or depleted filter cartridges.  The second improvement is that each individual filter holder is cut at a 45 degree angle for ease of installing filters.  The third improvement is the raising of the lift bale above the height of the filter cartridges to allow for remote grapple lift.  The Underwater Filter Storage Rack Model UT-3/6 is also designed to fit into a shielded drum while holding six filters.
