Tri Nuclear Corp.

Subject:           Change in Part Number for all Tri Nuclear Submersible

Pump Assemblies and Pump Power Cables.

Effective Date:            May 2001

This letter is to inform you of a change in part numbers and price for the following standard Tri Nuclear equipment: PP-600, PP-260, PP-100, & PCX-100. The operability and function of the new products have not changed in any manner

Background:

Since 1990, Tri Nuclear has used a Franklin Electric submersible electrical disconnect for connecting the electrical power cable to the Underwater Filter Systems pumps. The electrical disconnect is located on the pump assembly top cover. The disconnect is an important protection feature for removing the power cable from the pump assembly to minimize cable entanglement during equipment setup and storage.  Franklin was the sole source for this connector and now, no longer manufactures the component.

Tri Nuclear has found a suitable replacement submersible disconnect that has been tested and meets the design for the pump application. The new upgrade connector, however, can no longer be used with the former “flat ribbon cable” (PCX-100 power cable).  An underwater, SO type “round” cable will be used with the new electrical disconnect. The cable is used for underwater applications and is electrically and chemically well suited for the pool environment and equipment application. The former PCX-100 power cord will still be stocked to support the “old style” pumps that are in the field.

Electrical Disconnect Material Changes and Features:

All new pump assemblies will have the upgraded electrical disconnect.

The electrical disconnect is made of glass reinforced epoxy.  This material is more chemically suited to the pool environment, rather than the former brass connector.

The pump power cable has been changed from a “flat ribbon” type cable to a 4-wire SO cable.  The SO cable provides extra protection to the cable with an additional outer insulating jacket.

The new power cable will be interchangeable between the various Tri Nuclear pumps.

In conclusion, we believe the new power cable and electrical disconnect is an excellent upgrade to our Underwater Filter Equipment.  We thank you for your understanding during this transition phase.
