SUBJECT: Change in Part Number for Tri Nuclear Filter Cartridges

EFFECTIVE DATE: 1997

This letter is to inform you of a change in part number for Tri Nuclear Filter Cartridges.  The former VCP-** filter cartridges have now been replaced and upgraded to VCPH-**PE filter cartridges.  The operability and function of the new product has not changed in any manner. The two manufacturing changes in the filter cartridge are:

· The filter media has changed from polypropylene to polyester

· The area of filter media for the 1 micron has increased from 43 sq. ft. to 64 sq. ft

· The area of filter media for the 0.3, 5, 10 and 20 micron has increased from 43 sq. ft. to approximately 64 sq. ft.

The introduction of the polyester melt blown filter media into our new cartridges offers some very distinct advantages over the former polypropylene media. Some of these advantages are listed below.

· Increase membrane wet ability and higher density allowing the submergence of cartridges without the addition of weight material.

· Increase membrane permeability decreasing initial pressure drop across the filter

· Higher dirt loading capacities for longer filter runs

· Higher operating temperature range 300F.

· Higher resistance to gamma radiation

Our recent change in filter media to polyester allows for a new pleat configuration with filter surface area increasing more than 50% compared to our former filter cartridge.  The increase in filter media should result in much longer system run times and higher crud loading capacities on the filter cartridges.

In conclusion, we believe these changes have resulted in a far superior filter cartridge, capable of holding larger amounts of dirt and decreasing the final volume of disposable waste.  With these added improvements, Tri Nuclear has decided to no longer produce the former VCP-0.3, 1, 5, 10 and 20 cartridges since the increased efficiencies in filter operation support the additional cost of the new filter.

The form, fit, and function of the filter cartridges has not changed.
