Weight: 95 lbs
Design flow rate: 50 to 150 GPM
Material: Stainless steel
Equipment requirements: UFV-100 or 260
Skim perimeter: 9-1/2 feet (This permits a thin overflow depth, which is necessary to effectively use water tension to skim pool surface and not dilute the overflow stream with sub-surface water.)

Major Components of the SK-175:
Float chamber: maintains the correct floating level of the skimmer. When putting the unit into operation, ballast water is added through the top plug to initially adjust and maintain the correct floating level of the skimmer.
Overflow trough: directs the overflow water to the bottom outlet and then via a hose to the suction of the UFV- 100 or 260 Underwater Filter/Vacuum unit.
Floating overflow weir: consists of a nylon skirt and floating 1" flexible tube banded to the outside diameter of the overflow trough. This floats up and down to maintain the correct minimum overflow depth as the flow rate changes due to progressive plugging of the filters as material is skimmed from the pool.
A key benefit of this equipment is that water from the skimmer is discharged from the bottom into the pool therefore no surface rippling or agitation occurs to distort viewing.
Tri Nuclear Corp.
During refueling outages and periods of underwater work activity at nuclear power stations, surface water skimming of cavities and fuel storage pools is necessary in order to:
· remove floating dirt and debris from pool surfaces to maintain water clarity
· remove floating crud bursts to avoid “flea” type personnel contamination and high radiation levels over pools
· prevent crud plate out on side walls of cavities during pump down, which can result in airborne contamination problems.
The Tri Nuclear Corp. Pool Skimmer, Model SK-175 is designed to provide a skim perimeter of 9-1/2 feet when used with the Underwater Filter/Vacuum Units, Model UFV-100 or UFV-260.
